Parking Restriction Bollards

Sent to Birmingham City Council 3 minutes later
On Bow Street Birmimgham B1 there has been permission granted to close off the parking bays except for use by the 02 Academy indefinitely. The barriers used are being left on the footpath and at night it is very dark and could be a hazard I have walked into one myself, no injury was caused. It would be appreciated if BCC would speak to the appropriate management of the 02 Academy to have this practice stopped before an injury is caused. There is no problem in them being left on the highway but not the footpath which is a route many residents who live in the city centre use. Your urgent attention to this matter would be appreciated.

The practice of leaving the barriers is ongoing. This problem should be addressed without delay before an accident occurs. It is appreciated that the 02 Academy is paying a lot of money to the council for the closure of these valuable parking bays lets hope that the bad practice can be stopped before any revenue received has to be paid out in conpensation.
Barriers are still being left on the footpath, has anyone asked the O2 Academy to cease this practice?
Barriers are still being left on the footpath, have O2 instructed all the drivers of vehicles being parked in the parking bay that this is not a safe practice.
Depending on the event taking place at the O2 Academy depends if the parking bay barriers are place and left on the footpath which, when the coaches etc. are parked up either one of the security or one of the O2 management could very easily check to see that the bollards are in fact no on the footpath, a footpath is for use by pedestrians and the road has the right for vehicles, it is not rocket science to see what a hazard these bollards are when I have had to walk past up to four at a time on the footpath or cross the road and walk on the other side of the street. This is a problem and it's only when there has been an accident and a claim made for compensation I feel that anything will be done! why is it such a problem for O2 to monitor, there are many staff having a cigarette break in the opening at the back of the building surely someone can keep and eye out for these offenders.
Problem still exists there are 5 bollards on the footpath tonight some close to the curb three in the middle of the footpath I don't think that BCC are interested in what the public have to say.
The practice of leaving the barriers on the footpath continues. There has been a letter circulated stating that the City Council Environmental Health Department would like to hear from any resident who is suffering nuisance to tell them about it. I have been raising this problem for nearly nine months now via this web page! how much notice do the council need to either contact or monitor for themselves the O2 Academy's practice of the leaving the barriers on the footpath, just visit the rear of the O2 any night that there is a a gig taking place and they can see for themselves. The amount of litter and noise from these premises is also not acceptable. I am sure that the council must be aware of the problems, for some of us it is not a choice to live in the City Centre but offers of accommodation for us to live in, if we had refused to take the offers made then we would have had to wait twelve months before another offer would have been made. In theory the O2 seems like a good idea to bring business into the city but in practice a completely different situation rolls it's self out.
Still happening & now black rubish bags are being left in the street from the coaches, oh well Birmingham City Council have money to waste.
It seems that there is a seperate law for the 02 as its visiting entertaainers have no respect for the residents od the city, they are allowed to leave black bags of rubbish on the footpath in the street which is there for days, I wonder how they would feel if we all left rubbish outside of their homes, & in the end who removes it?
The problem seems to be fixed as a direct result of the parking bays for the O2 Acadamey being stopped. It seems that they are going to allow it on an ad-hoc basis when they put up notices advising that the bays will be restricted for say a day only but that seems to have stopped as much rubbish being left in the streets and the bollards are not being left for days at a time on the footpath. I will monitor the situation and if necessary report again if this becomes a problem. Thank you for allowing me the use of this invaluable site.
