River pollution

Reported by Rob Evans at 01:27, Thu 18 March 2010
Sent to Dorset County Council and Christchurch Borough Council 3 minutes later

10.30 this evening 17th March I noticed LARGE areas of floating pollution on the river. Unsure as to whether it was oil/sewage/boat leakage/scum or what. As a regular walker along that stretch of river I have never seen this amount of pollution before. It was very concerning. The swans were getting it all over their feathers as they tried to swim through it. The situation may change when the tide changes, but it shouldn't have been there. Please report it to the appropriate authority. Thank you

Tide changed and pollution went with it. Was later contacted by the Environment Agency who gave me a 24 hour 'phone no to contact if similar happened again.
