Numerous sections of this road are showing signs of top surface degridation. There are also many potholes, generally where previous road repairs have been carried out. The patches and holes are getting so large that the drivers concentration is being diverted to avoiding these holes. It is also very difficult to maintain a normal driving position due to the location of the holes.

Some of the holes were filled in, but not all. But some of the repairs have started to break up already.
Problem is they don't repair them properly. Road repair material is dropped in but the edges are not sealed with pitch - so the water still gets in. Come the next icy cold day they'll break open again.
