Metal ornamental ring stolen

Reported anonymously at 09:47, Wed 3 March 2010
Sent to Blackburn with Darwen Borough Council 3 minutes later

A large metal ornamental ring 8'diameter embedded into the path on Audley Linear Park was stolen last night. It has probably been weighed in This has now created a hole which is a danger to anyone walking up the path. Residents were promised a tree and metal surround to protect it years ago but after contacting Blackburn Groundwork on several occasions about this it was never planted. Maybe if it had been the tree roots would have made the prising on the metal ring impossible

Not much happened - As I posted to this site my husband rang the Council and spoke to 4 different departments. No one had idea who was responsible. In the end he just gave up!! A lady did email me back to ask where the metal circle had been - someone has come out and filled the 8' diameter hole with sand which is not acceptable as the local kids plus a dog have been playing in it. The dog fouled in the sand. Another chap from the Council also emailed me who is not the 'right person' and is trying his best to get the 'right person' to contact me but to date without much success. It's unfortunate that this is typical Blackburn with Darwen Council - not got a clue what job they actually do and who is responsible for getting things done

The 8' circle hole has been filled with sand. The Police don't want to know and a chap has contacted me from the Council to tell me that he is the wrong person and is trying to find out who can help but everyone seems to be off sick - Typical Blackburn Council - no hope whatsoever

After the large hole the stolen metal circle left was filed in with sand the Council has contacted me - a Tanya Gallagher - to say that there is no funds to make the hole safer - what a joke - the circle belonged to the Council and surely it is their responsability to sort the problem. If someone falls and puts in a claim because of this it will cost more to fulfill the claim that a bucket of concrete to fill it - absolutely shameful!!!
